Privacy Policy
Who we are
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Room Bookings and Payments
If you book a room through our website, we collect your name, contact details, and payment information. This is necessary to process your booking and payment securely. We use trusted third-party payment processors to handle all online payments—your card details are never stored on our servers.
Comments
If you leave a comment on the site (e.g. on a blog post), we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Cookies
- If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience and last for one year.
- If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to check if your browser accepts cookies. This contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login info and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last a year. Selecting "Remember Me" will keep you logged in for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
- Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie in your browser (post ID only, expires after one day).
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website directly. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous statistical data about how visitors use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyse website traffic and usage patterns. Information generated by these cookies (including your IP address) may be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers outside the UK. You can read more in Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties, except as required for payment processing, analytics, and spam detection.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically.
For users who register on our website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except for any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Payment information is securely processed via our third-party payment provider and is not stored on our site. Analytics data may be sent to Google Analytics.
